Terra Valke was brought up in the slum villages on the Imperial world Flavian where she worked in the gold mines with the rest of her family till she was 13 when she left her family and became a wonderer and petty thief. After 2 years of thieving she was later capture by the Vigiles the policing body on Flavian where due to her fiery personality she was to be thrown in the Colosseum to die at the hand of a trained gladiator. After a gruelling battle Terra was able to take the gladiator by surprise and kill them, after the upset she quickly became a crowd favourite.
Terra would later find herself participating in gladiatorial bouts multiply times a month against other new gladiators, this is the time she was taught to use exotic weapons and firearms by her jailers and taught basic schooling that is normally only given to upper class citizens.
After 3 years of fighting and learning she was in a position to fight the grand champion of the arena named the Hound and finally earn her freedom, the odds were not in here favour as the champion had never lost for decades due to cybernetic and biological enhancements. Though she was injured gravely and fought bravely she lost the battle for her freedom against the Champion but due to her good standing with the crowd her life was spared.
She would then later find out a ageing captain of a Star ship called Julian had bought her freedom after seeing her heroic fight against the Hound, she would be extremely grateful to Julian for the rest of her life.
For 10 years she would work for Captain Julian learning the ways of a star ship and eventually become the Master gunner on the Captains ship, Mothers Mercy. Not long after becoming master gunner Captain Julian died of natural causes.
The new captain of the star ship was a pompous noble called Duke Sebastian of Albia from a rivalling neighbour planet. Sebastian would show later that he had no experience being a captain of a ship and this resulted in one quarter of the crew being lost to a routine patrol where they encountered a small fleet of pirates ships but instead of falling back and waiting for back up the new Captain charged his ship in wanting the glory for himself.
Due this failure of command Sebastian had earned the ire of his crew but whenever someone would speak out he would deem them traitor and execute them, the rest of the crew had no power since not only was he a Noble he was also there captain.
Terra Valke would later take matters into her own hands when she dared to question the Duke, the Duke was furious that someone so high ranking would try and question his command and he tried to have her executed, but before this could happen the crew quickly turned on the Duke and his retinue, Terra then murdered the captain and his followers and became the new captain of Mothers Mercy.
But she and her crew did murder a noble and she was unable to stop word getting out that she killed him, So Imperial forces bagan hunting her and the crew as they are all wanted for High treason, Murder and Thief of a starship.
